Fishing was Good before the War
My grandmother, Tsune Yonemoto, was an avid fisherman, going to Half Moon Bay, whenever she could.
My father told me that sometimes one of her companion was Chiura Obata, the famous artist and professor at University of Berkeley.
At Heart Mountain, my father was a member of the Heart Mountain Fishing Club and caught trout for the family. I would only eat the trout if it were cooked in butter. No margarine for me. I was just 2 years old!
After the war, my grandmother continued to go Half Moon Bay. I'm not sure about my father since golf was his real passion. But sometimes he would go out on a friend's boat in San Francisco Bay. On this boat he found companionship and many cold drinks. He also mentioned going to the Santa Mateo coast to catch smelt from the shore.

Fishing was Good after the War
Fishing remained a popular Yonemoto hobby into the next generation.
